When I started teaching, I purchased many secondhand books to help me set up a library for my students. Over my thirteen years in the classroom, these books have been well-loved and worn. I am now a third-grade reading teacher hoping to expand my collection so that my students have more options than ever. Help me bring culturally relevant stories and rich meaningful texts into the lives of my students! I want to create a love for reading. The best way I know how to do this is to bring stories that my students can connect to. They need to understand that the world is full of possibilities. It is full of people who overcame adversity and went on to do amazing things. They too can go on to do amazing things. Reading is the key to their future success.
