My special day classroom focuses on meeting the needs of students with Autism. Through the Unique Learning System, we work daily on academics, communication, and current events. We also support building relationships and awareness with general education peers during activities such as reverse mainstreaming (general education students come into our classroom) recess, and other school wide events. Spreading campus awareness has created a better understanding an open communication about Autism. My goal as a teacher is to meet my students where they are and push them to succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially. In my classroom students are given high expectations paired with the supports they need to succeed! This is all tracked by data and observation. My students have DIFFERENT ABILITIES, not disabilities. My team of support staff and I work hard to reach them and unlock their potential each and every day!
