My fourth grade students live in Alaska. We come from a community that supports science, agriculture, and subsistence. I teach in a STEM school that engages students in hands on and place-based service learning. Our students are engaged in the natural world around them and interested in helping to answer real world questions. Salmon are a way of life for many of our students and families. The Donors Choose project I am proposing takes kids outdoors to work with community partners to learn about one of our most precious natural resources.
