My students come from a low-income, Title I community that has a high poverty level. They are primarily Hispanic and African American, with a high rate of transiency. My school is the oldest in the district, with the least amount of funding for extra technology. We were lucky enough to get WiFi installed within the last year. The students are restricted to textbooks that have had many years of use, and most are in poor condition. Having new iPads to gain access to the World Wide Web will open their world beyond the confines of the dilapidated classroom walls.
