This is a surprise to some, as the town they live in has an 11% unemployment rate and is known in the area as a hotbed of gang violence. The high poverty affects my students daily. Some of them read below grade level; some struggle in math; some struggle to get to school at all. My students face major challenges, but still bring 100% to theatre class every day.
