Having the basic supplies of markers, colored pencils, glue, and paper allows the students a whole world of opportunities. You would be amazed at the pictures I see when they are given the opportunity to just "free draw." Their pictures tell stories that they would never be able to express in words. They show the happiness they have experienced, the sadness, their troubles and their dreams. You see what motivates them and how you, as an educator, can help them grow. It's really amazing what a piece of paper and a pencil can do for a child. Coming from homes where they have nothing and there are so many struggles to overcome outside of school, I like to think the art room is a sanctuary for them. It is not possible if we don't have the supplies for students to use to express themselves. Your donation of supplies will make a world of difference and put huge smiles on my students' faces.
