Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them while also incorporating movement into their work time. Making sure middle school students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them and increasing their level of physical activity in the classroom has additional health benefits as well. When middle school students have choice in seating and options for movement in class, the environment becomes more active, yet relaxed, and there are increased levels of engagement and enthusiasm. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The soft stools as well as the wobble cushions allow students an opportunity to move around safely while seated instead of leaning back in their desk chairs. The bouncy bands and the exercise peddlers allow for some non-disruptive fancy footwork movement to occur. The camping chairs and the cushioned stools allow for a fun alternative to traditional seating. I have researched how flexible seating choice can positively affect middle school students learning experiences and hope that the additional options will help us achieve even more!
