My students are hard workers. Period. My second graders have a lot of responsibility at home and school. I try my best to alleviate some of that stress, but it is hard. My school is 100% free and reduced lunch. The students rely on their two meals here at school. Since our lunch time is so early, I like to provide a snack for the students before they go home. In addition to providing snacks, we are finding that we have a shortage of pencils, erasers, and paper. The students have brought in what they can, as have I, but we are struggling to keep up with old items! The students need an environment that they don't have to do anything but learn. I want them to be able to grab a pencil without me worrying that we only have a handful left. I want them to use as many pieces of paper to write their story without worrying that we won't have enough for our spelling test on Friday. I want them to be able to learn in their most comfortable state. Whether that be, at their seat, in a bean bag, against the wall, or on a carpet square. I want the seating to be flexible enough that they are able to do their best learning in that spot. These donations will make the day go smoother for my second graders. I know they would be most appreciative.
