Our school is a public school in California. Our students come from culturally and economically diverse backgrounds. Parents are very supportive and involved in the education of their children. I have taught at my school for 15 years, and I have seen the effect the economy has had on families and their resources. Our school has had numerous layoffs and program cuts. I can donate my time, which costs nothing and is so rewarding, to continue a lunchtime guitar and ukulele club. The problem I have is I need more instruments so all kids who want to participate can.
