This is our school's first year competing with the marching band, and with that comes the need for instruments that are built for outdoor performance. Unfortunately, these instruments are quite expensive, and our school is unable to purchase these instruments anytime in the near future due to current budget restrictions. A Xylophone that we can use on the field would mean so much for my students because it means that they will have an instrument that won't break on the way to the football field. Currently, they have to carefully bring out a bell kit that has very fragile wheels that fall off more often than not. A xylophone designed for marching band has a sturdier frame and pneumatic wheels, making transport worry-free. Mallet instruments are an essential part of marching band these days, so slowly building an inventory over the next few years is a top priority.
