Children today are very technically savvy. They know how to use tablets and smartphones before they are in elementary school. The problem is, school technology is not always the most up to date equipment. Our school district is currently in the process of becoming a GOOGLE district and chromebooks would give my students access to learn how to connect and collaborate through google, to explore science, social studies, to explore their interests, and explore places they have never been before. My students will explore BLOGGING and go on virtual field trips. They will communicate with other first graders around the US by doing a pen pal program.
