I teach AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and English Lab (reading & writing support class) at Crosby High School in Waterbury, CT. Teaching in an urban district comes with its challenges and I try to listen to what my students' biggest challenges are so I can create a classroom that reflects their learning needs. In addition, I strive to model authenticity, personal responsibility, and "keeping my word." I strive to build a rapport with my students and motivate them to believe in themselves. My students know I care about their success and I try every day to teach them tools in literacy so they can be successful in whatever path they choose.
