My goal each school year is to develop a love of reading and learning in my students. Having time to read with friends builds a sense of community and allows students to explore what others learn from a particular title. I have selected specific titles to connect with content in Social Studies and Science as well as titles students can relate to socially. By the end of the school year, students will read 6 different books in literature circles and develop or strengthen the ability to discuss their learning and analysis of literature. Students will have the opportunity to view book trailers for each of the titles, and choose their top 3 choices, and they will initially be placed in groups based on those choices. 12 books are listed as 3 titles will be used in 5th and 6th grade classes. Students will have the opportunity to share what they are learning from their assigned book through written response, Socratic Seminar, and other book projects. These books will be used for years to come.
