I teach elementary and middle school students general music. My students range from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade. We are in an urban public school district. Many of my students are bilingual. The district also has a high poverty rate. The students are very connected to music and are highly interested in learning. For the majority of my students, the education provided by the public schools will be their only exposure to music. I would like for my students to receive a quality music education including using instruments to explore and compose. My students are deserving of quality materials and supplies but there is a limited budget.
