Kindergarteners learn best when their learning is relevant to their own lives. Students at this age love the world around them and what is around them are animals and insects. \r\nThey are extremely interested in animals and insects. As happens sometimes, when the project was funded some of the books were not available. I was lucky enough to be able to select different books to fill the project. The books selected included Coraline - A spooky story about a girl's journey to \"the other side\", Inside Out and Back Again - A novel about a family's escape from war torn Vietnam, and Planet Middle School - A great book that explores what happens when you start middle school and people start to change.\r\n\r\nEach of these books has made an impact on the students in my classroom. Coraline has been a great book to engage and encourage reluctant readers. Planet Middle School was a favorite with my 7th graders who connected with the characters. From the way old friends change to annoying little siblings, to school, sports, and more. The students loved this one. Finally is Inside Out and Back Again. This book packed such an emotional punch. The students were so invested in the characters and wanted to learn more about the Vietnam War and the immigrants that left Vietnam and came to America. I was surprised how much I liked this book too! \r\n\r\nI want to express gratitude for your donation to this project. Books are the heart of learning. They help us connect to each others and make us more caring individuals. They improve our vocabulary, our writing, and our reading comprehension. They turn us into life long learners and make us brighter, kinder, and better people. Thank you for your donation. Together we really are making a difference in the lives of these students.","fullyFundedDate":1716573519341,"projectUrl":"project/misfits-slugs-books-kids-love-to-read/8336813/","projectTitle":"Misfits & Slugs: Books Kids Love To Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1980000_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1551143842293","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1980000"},{"teacherId":9613223,"projectId":8527511,"letterContent":"I am writing to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution to our preschool gross motor room project.
