Boomwhackers are a tuned percussion tube instrument that is a fun and effective way for students to learn to read music. Allowing students to have one, two, or more notes (tubes) to play helps them to truly comprehend how to read and play music without overwhelming them. Students also focus on rhythms every music class and use a variety of pitched and unpitched percussion. Students use these rhythmic and melodic lessons to help them develop their own creativity both as an individual and a group. As this school year has gone by I have found that a lot of my old percussion instruments are damaged beyond repair. They have been around for 10+ years and simply need to be replaced. The students love to use rhythms sticks, triangles, blocks, and unique instruments like the Clatterpillar whenever they come to music class.
