My classroom library and the curriculum resources I have purchased over the years are not suitable for fifth graders. I spent time looking through the fifth grade curriculum and found that in mathematics there are several books suggested for interactive read alouds related to probability and fractions, decimals and percents. I am working on compiling a classroom library with age appropriate texts, as well as resources linked to the fifth grade curriculum. In addition to curriculum based resources I find that a lot of our classroom books are outdated. Students need rich texts that interest them, and my hope is to begin compiling a classroom library of chapter books they are excited to read. I would love help in building a library of resources to prepare me for next year!
