The materials in this project will provide learning experiences that are fun and meaningful. Students will have opportunities for dramatic play, building, and discovering. They will count and add to build houses. They will match uppercase and lowercase letters or spell words as they construct their own designs with letter tiles. They will prepare meals for each other with tabletop kitchen and grill sets. They will set up a neighborhood of community garages for their toy cars to visit. Most importantly, they will use their imagination and share their ideas with each other. Students learn when they are engaged. Albert Einstein said, "Play is the highest form of research." I am always fascinated at the conversations my students have and what they figure out on their own when they are playing. When students are playing, it does not matter what language they speak or how many words they can read, they can still discover and learn together.
