A classroom library with new books engages the students and keeps them interested in reading. Since I moved from 5th to 4th grade, I need to add more books that are at my students' reading level. Many of my books are old and need to be replaced. Students love new books. I am requesting Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Magic Tree House, Big Nate, and Roald Dahl book sets. With these new book sets, I'm hoping that my students will find an author they like and continue reading the books offered in the sets. Finally, a classroom library with high interest books is necessary for improving my students' fluency and comprehension. The accelerated reader (A/R) program at my school is one way students show that they are doing their reading at home. And, having books readily available will allow my students to meet their A/R goal.
