I work in a Title 1 school in a large urban district. Our school's population includes families from over 50 different countries, including recent arrivals. I currently coteach with a special education teacher. Approximately one-third of our students are learning disabled and/or physically handicapped. Many of our students' parents work multiple jobs and live in an impoverished area of the city. They either do not drive or do not have the time to come visit our classroom. That, however, has not diminished their desire to be a part of the learning process. Our students are charming, enthusiastic, and highly motivated. They love learning and they want to share their classroom experiences with their families.
