My students will have the opportunity this year to use brand new Chromebooks, without ever leaving our classroom. No more trips to the computer lab! In order to transform our classroom from a traditional model to a modern workspace conducive to collaboration, we need the ability to work at a table, not all alone at a desk. The addition of 2 chairs is a simple step toward big changes; a move toward collaboration, away from the isolated island of an individual desk. Providing students the opportunity to work next to a peer will foster discussion, idea sharing, and brainstorming. In addition, the chairs will be particularly helpful for ESL students who rely on bilingual peers to guide and help them as they learn a new language.
