Students in my room love to read. We are working to gain deeper understanding of literature by self-selecting quality books. The students are always excited to see new books arrive. Kids gravitate to series reading, and are always disappointed if the books aren't available. The books chosen are frequently requested by the students and borrowed from another teacher's classroom. These books will be well loved and enjoyed by my students. My students are challenged every month to read 80,000 words. Students that read 1 million words in a school year make tremendous gains. Creating and nurturing the love of reading is always our ultimate goal.
