The goal of flexible seating is to better engage students and empower them with choices by providing diverse seating options. Flexible seating facilitates student-centered, collaborative learning, fosters a positive classroom community, and even promotes healthy, kinesthetic learning. My first grade students enjoy moving around in the classroom. I want to allow creative ways to engage their learning whether it is in a fun and exciting chair or laying down on the rug. Flexible seating in the classroom allows for a more authentic learning environment that adapts to the unique needs of all of my students. Each student learns and focuses in completely different ways.
