At our campus we are departmentalized meaning I am responsible for teaching two separate classes. For my grade level I teach reading, writing, and social studies skills. The students on our campus come from low socioeconomic households in which more than half receive government assistance. Their personal crisis was extended even greater due to Hurricane Harvey hitting last year. Some of our students are still displaced, living with relatives, and making repairs on their homes. Providing resources for my class would mean not only supporting them academically but supporting their emotional well being as they continue to recover from tragic events of their past.
