This year, we started using a few flexible seating options in our 1st grade classroom during math learning centers and guided reading stations. Being able to move about the room to find a comfy seat has proven to help students focus and become active learners. This project will allow us to add even more flexible seating options to our classroom, which will allow all students to select a seat to help them be successful. The wobble stools and bouncy balls will help students that need to fidget while they work. The comfy wedge seats will allow students to sit together while they work in collaborative pairs or in a small group setting. Soft seats and comfy floor seats will give cushion and support to those students who love to sit on the floor while working. During carpet time, some students do not like sitting on the floor, so the storage benches will allow students to have a choice of sitting off of the floor while still participating with the group on the carpet.
