Students learn differently and have different bodily-spatial and kinesthetic needs. My students will be given the choice of where they sit besides a desk and chair. They will have the opportunity to try each flexible seating option that we have and decide what works best for them. Seating and student space is an important factor to student engagement and success. Alternative seating will allow movement, while helping them to collaborate and think critically. I believe that when students have choice, they are able to focus, keep themselves motivated, and feel more comfortable while they work. I am hoping to start flexible seating with my first graders this coming school year.
