My project's goal is to get high-interest books into the hands of my students in order to boost their academic skills. By having more books in a variety of genres, I will be able to offer students more choices than I currently have in my library. Students are required to read 40 books during the school year, and I will need to have a high volume and variety of books on hand to help students accomplish this. My students also participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program, and these books will help them achieve their AR personal goals as well. The donations to this project will add choice and depth to my classroom library, allowing students access to good literature. As students become better readers, they will see improvement in all other academic areas.
