Meeting new people, traveling to new places, and hearing animals talk are only a few of the amazing opportunities a listening center has allowed my 1st graders to enjoy over the years. Nothing takes you away like a good book! Unfortunately, after 19 years of loyal service my listening center has finally died and my school does not have the funds to replace this much loved classroom activity. A new listening center for my students will help model fluent reading, decode unfamiliar words, teach critical listening skills, introduce new vocabulary and so much more. The listening center has always been the most popular of our literacy centers and the writing that comes from the stories they hear are always incredible so please help my students embark on a journey through literature.
