Welcome to TK, the newest grade level in 100 years! In my TK classroom I teach with the belief that within each child there is confidence, capability and proficient individuality with a virtually untapped reserve of creativity and learning potential. With this in mind I strive to find every opportunity possible to provide a cooperative learning environment where each child can find success. Cooperative learning in TK requires that classroom activities be organized into academic and social learning experiences. Children work to complete tasks collectively toward defined and often redefined goals. Students learning cooperatively share ideas, evaluate one another's ideas, monitor one another's work, etc. The teacher's role changes from leader to facilitator as the activity evolves. Successful cooperative learning is intellectually demanding, creative, open-ended and involves higher order thinking. Welcome to TK!
