My 5th grade students are hard-working, inquisitive, and caring. They come in each day ready to learn, work hard, and do it all again the next day. As you can see from their picture, they are up for a challenge--after reading about Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel while laying on his back, they decided to give it a try. Student created works of art while laying under their desks. One clever student suggested we display them on the ceiling, which we did! Interestingly, because we are at a high-performing school we get no additional funding for things like computers. But that doesn't tell the whole story . . . Statistics are about averages and not everyone at our school is a superstar. I have a cluster of students with special needs in my class who are working just as hard, they just need extra support.
