The Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief books and audio will serve many purposes for my 7th grade ELA classroom. First and foremost, the materials will help to reinforce the content that my students will be learning in Social Studies, Math, and Science. Second, students will be able to recognize the traits present in Greek Mythology in contemporary young adult literature. Third, through the process of seeing AND hearing the literature, students will be more apt to read and comprehend the book. Last, but certainly not least, students will enjoy reading a book, that while fantasy, they could imagine happening to themselves.
