My school in Louisiana is a Title 1 school and 90% of my students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. This being said they come from homes where most of their parents do not work and many of my 6 year old students wake themselves up in the morning, get themselves dressed and walk to the bus stop on their own. Overall they are forced to grow up quickly but are so affectionate and loving because it is something they starve for. They are the reason I wake up in the morning and they always put a smile on my face.
