I have chosen a variety of resources to help my children enjoy using some of the skills we have acquired this far into the year. The play dough stampers will help them form words and for some of them, help them to solidify letters names and sounds. Any way I can incorporate learning in a hands on way, I am more likely for it to "stick" with them. Art materials provide an awesome medium for kids to express themselves and show what they have learned. I have chosen many different art materials including finger paints and small paint pens to give my kindergarteners a chance to use and strengthen their fine motor skills which are a vital part of being a successful writer. We have also been working on developing social skills which are essential for success in school and in life. Opportunities to play provide a great chance to practice these skills in an active and real way. Rather than me teaching them and showing them examples, they can play with the pets and the ocean animals that I have requested to practice everything from speaking and listening to taking turns and sharing.
