My class contains a very diverse group of 4th grade students. I teach at a Title I school in which 88% of our low-income families rely on us to provide free or reduced breakfast and lunch for their children. We have many families that have come from all over the world, sharing their culture and languages with us. We currently have 17 different languages used by our students - many of which didn't speak English when beginning the school year. Despite their hardships, our students come to school each day eager to learn. Our 4th grade class varies in a wide range of reading levels, cultures, and life experiences. My goal is not only to teach every student to read English but to have a life-long love of reading.
