Flexible seating empowers students to take ownership of their learning and the choices that work best for them. Research has shown that classrooms that use flexible seating have not only seen an increase in student achievement but an increase in student collaboration and motivation. Currently, my students are choosing to collaboratively work with their peers in a variety of locations in our classroom such as sitting under desks or tables with clipboards, sitting or laying on the floor with clipboards or working standing up at the back counter. It’s amazing to see how engaged and focused my students are when given a choice in their seating. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options that will promote problem-solving skills, more student engagement, increase attentiveness and boost learning independence. Students need choice and thrive on it. Therefore, flexible seating options will not only allow my students to be more productive but will help me reach all learners within the classroom environment more effectively.
