Due to my student's disabilities, independence is a huge skill for them to learn and continually work on. Learning to cook for themselves is a huge step in independence. Cooking and baking also help with math skills and social skills when the students are working together to cook or bake. If they can learn to safely and properly work a toaster oven they can cook and bake for themselves. By the end of next year I would like to be able to have the students cook for their parents. The students would be so excited to share their creations with their families.
