I have 27 fun, loving kindergarten students in my class. They are full of energy and are excited to be at school to learn. Our children's brains are not getting the same stimulation as in the past. Children today are more inclined to watch television or play a video game than to play tag, ride a bike, or climb a tree. We now know that balance and academic performance are related. Children have difficulty learning if all of the sensory systems are not helping them to process what is in front of them. Someone once said to me, "You have to go slow, to go fast." I believe I need to take the time and give my students the opportunity to build strong neurological foundations. Then they will be ready to learn with ease and will encounter academic success!
