Stability balls, stools, wobble & floor cushions, stability discs, saucer & bungee chairs, stadium seats, rug space & resistance bands are critical to enhancing learning for my students! The book bins will be used to keep students supplies organized while they are using these different seating options. Flexible seating provides choice and control over their environment which makes students feel empowered. Children need to move! Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand which will increase oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. It helps to keep young minds more alert and focused. With more variety of options, I will better be able to meet the diverse needs of all of my students. Physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior. An uncomfortable student which includes inside and outside of the classroom, is distracted and unproductive. Flexible seating options simulate touch and encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused, and productive. It allows them to leave their home life at home. Flexible seating allows students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class without having to move around heavy desks. It creates a community of learning! It makes the classroom a place students want to be that makes learning fun!
