First grade is a foundational year. It's where children begin to discover what it means to be a student. They learn the essentials of reading, writing, and math, while also developing the ability to express their feelings, build friendships, and find a sense of confidence and belonging. Teaching first grade is both a challenge and a joy. It’s truly remarkable to witness the incredible growth these young learners experience; emotionally, intellectually, and physically all over the course of just ten months. My goal is to create a classroom environment where each child feels safe, valued, and supported. At the same time, I strive to challenge them to grow into the best versions of themselves. I want my students to leave first grade knowing they are independent, responsible, and compassionate individuals who have the power to make a difference in the world.
