I launched this campaign to get new, high-interest books into the hands of my students through an updated classroom library. One of the biggest joys of teaching is seeing a student fall in love with a book, and I love recommending books to students based on their diverse needs and interests. However, many of the titles in my classroom library are older, so I don't always have a copy of some of the high-interest books I know students will enjoy. Having these books available in the classroom will get books into student's hands and keep books flying off the shelves. Through the addition of new releases, I'm also hoping to diversify my current selection. Reading acts as both a mirror into a reader's life and a window into the lives of others. The students in my class have a wide range of interests and experiences, and it is my hope that through an updated classroom library, I am able to provide students will the stories they can both relate to and grow from. The power of stories is truly magical!
