Just like most other first grade students, we love using all forms of technology! Unfortunately, we do not have access to all types of technology here at our school or in many of the homes of my students. Hopefully, we can change that! My students and I will learn to use the iPads to record movies of our Poem Premieres and other stories. After recording these performances, my students will learn to use iMovie to create one large movie of their reading progress from the beginning of the year to the end. They will be able to access their movies to critique their reading progress and set reading goals. They will also share these movies with their family members at conferences and take a complete copy home with them at the end of the school year. First grade is all about learning to read! How amazing would it be to be able to keep a movie of a student's first experiences with true reading for the rest of their lives!? This project will support ALL students and their reading progress in my class! By giving us an opportunity to use new and exciting technology, it will not only motivate the typical reader, but it will also help to motivate students who are struggling with learning to read. All students will want to practice reading more in order to have the best performance possible for their movie. Thank you for considering a donation to help make a huge difference in the lives of my students!
