By using the WeDo Lego Core Set and participating in the 2018 FIRST Lego League Jr tournament, my students will be provided with the challenging learning opportunities they crave. Being participants will introduce them to many STEM concepts where they will problem-solve, think critically, innovate, and work together to complete their team project. Every year, FIRST releases a two-part challenge and students use the WeDo Lego Education Kit to help them meet that challenge. Students will first share their research and what they learned based on the year's theme, through a Show Me Poster. Next, the team will design and build a model based on the challenge which will represent what they learned. They will use the Lego Education WeDo kit to build and program a model that moves while learning basic engineering and programming concepts. In the process of developing their ideas, they will also learn FLL Core Values. These foundations of teamwork, friendly competition, and gracious professionalism will prepare students not only for school, but for life!
