My students are 6th - 8th graders from San Lorenzo and Hayward in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our school has over 850 students, and they are a wonderful and diverse group. More than half are English Language Learners and roughly 66% are socioeconomically disadvantaged. There are kids who are outgoing and talkative and there are kids who are shy and quiet. They are eager to learn, but not necessarily by sitting in a classroom. Working in the Library is the BEST. There is nothing more satisfying than finding that "just right" book for a student and having them come back and tell me how much they enjoyed it. I love to get kids excited about reading!
