These books will become an exciting space in the classroom for my students to explore. I have specifically picked out every single one of these books thinking about my school's demographics. Students shouldn't only be given the option of books that contain white characters or experiences that they might not connect with, but books that include a wide variety of cultures, languages, and experiences. I want to support my students in their unique identities and one way is by providing books. Your donation to this project will help my students connect their life to books and spark a real interest in reading. This not only would promote more reading among my second graders but also encourage discussion within the classroom about the different cultures or topics that students are reading about in order to create a safe and welcoming classroom community.
