Our class goes to the school library once a week where they have an opportunity to check out two books. Each scholar also has a leveled book that we read as a small group daily. Plus my class does a shared reading of novels all school year long. Each scholar has at least 4 books in their desk as at times! My class is setup with less desks and more collaborative seating at tables. This has created a culture of a sharing and collaborative community. With chair pockets my scholars will be able to have quick and easy access to their books which allows more time for independent, shared and guided reading. My goal every year to create a love of learning AND reading! Any way to help my class achieve this goal is valuable investment in their futures.
