Our school is located in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains and our town is the "exact center of California". The students here at North Fork elementary are very active and love being outside. Our school is very unique because we have such a special population. Many of our students are a part of the Mono Indian tribe. It's amazing to see all the different cultures come together in the classroom and share their experiences. These students come from mostly low income families. Many of these students have been involved in physical/mental trauma. They come to school to find a safe place to learn and be themselves. My school is full of teachers and students with big hearts and big dreams. Their compassion for one another amazes me everyday and I consider myself very lucky to be with these children and to work at this school.
