My students are an eager bunch of 5 year olds. A few have had preschool experience, but most have not and this is their first time away from home. Over 2/3 of the class speaks Spanish at home and are in the process of becoming bilingual. I encourage their use of their home language when they are speaking to me or the class and then we work on how that could also be said in English. We have a large school of over 875 students on our Preschool - 6th campus. We are constantly trying to find ways to share our computer lab, library and music teacher with all, but that usually means going on a rotation basis - not every week. 85% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch program and therefore we are a Title 1 school and I believe most still do not have Internet access at home. This years' class is a group of children who are ready for the routines of school, interested in learning more and eager to try.
