I teach 2nd grade in a Title 1 school. We have a large school and serve around 1700 students, but even with a large school we are a very tight community. There are many different levels of parental support throughout our school. A lot of our students speak another language at home. Many of our students come from low income homes with quite a few on free and reduced lunch, and unfortunately this is reflected in our classrooms. Some students are not able to afford the basic supplies to participate in a school day. I would love for all of my students to start the year off on the same foot with the same opportunities to grow.
