I am redesigning my classroom to make it a shared, student-centered space that targets all types of learners. Some kids just need to wobble! As the expectations on children and teachers increase, the amount of time needed to be spent on academic learning is also increased. Kindergarten aged children learn best through continual opportunity to engage in hands-on learning, as well as the ability to move freely. For kindergarteners, restriction of movement is not the most conducive to their learning style. By providing the students with wobble chairs during small group instruction, the children will be able to not only release their excess energy, they will be learning in the process.
