I am requesting books that will help ease transitions and provide support and comfort for my military students as well as help my low income students create a much needed home library. Many of my students come from low income home environments where every day is a struggle, while my military students deal with daily uncertainty. This project will help me provide my military students with books they can read for comfort during a parent deployment, while helping my low income students create a much needed home library of high interest. I would like for my students to feel a sense of ownership and pride of these books. By creating this project, I hope to be able to encourage a love of reading and not have any child feel as though they can not be successful because they don't have the materials they need.

About my class
